A muggle-worthy setting saves the day for Newt Scamander.
“J.K. Rowling invites you to explore a new era of the wizarding world,” words across the trailer read, setting in heavy nostalgia for diehard Potterheads.
In this wizarding world, set in America, viewers learn Scamander was expelled from Hogwarts “for endangering human life,” despite famed professor Albus Dumbledore fighting hard against the action.
The series, starring Eddie Redmayne, will be a trilogy with screenplays written by J.K. Rowling.
Later, he is seen successfully smuggling his curious creature-filled suitcase into the U.S. after leaving England.
The bookish character sets the suitcase to a “muggle-worthy” setting to avoid detection and earn entrance into Ellis Island.
Colin Farrell also stars in the magical movie.
The movie, with screenplay written by Rowling, is set in New York City during 1926 when Scamander — author of one of Potter’s schoolbooks — arrives with his suitcase of mysterious creatures, which naturally becomes opened.
The film also stars Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller and Jon Voight and will hit theaters on Nov. 18. It is set to become a trilogy. It’ll be the first “Harry Potter” related film on the big screen since the franchise bid farewell in 2011.
