The meaning of 'Shoop' on Salt N Pepa's Cheryl James' bday

Cheryl James, better known as Salt of pioneering hip-hop group Salt N Pepa, is celebrating her 50th birthday on March 28.

The influential group crafted such classics as “Push It” and “Whatta Man.” One addition to the trio’s legacy is how their 1993 hit “Shoop” is still confusing the elementary school playground of the Internet.

A look at people still not sure what it means and how exactly someone makes you want to “shoop shoop shoop.”

“It means doop-a-doop. So really, there are saying doop-a-doop-doop-a-doop.”
