In a room filled with comedians, Garry Shandling was still the “king.”

“Very very sad. I just saw him in a room full of funny people at Kathy Griffin’s house on Sunday, and we all deferred to Garry when he spoke. He is a king in our world,” comedian Jeff Ross told the Daily News on Thursday. “Now, like all great entertainers, he leaves us wanting more.”

Garry Shandling’s death rocked the comedy world on Thursday, as comedians and celebrities poured in stories of how the iconic star changed their lives.

Josh Radnor had a fan letter he always wanted to send to Garry Shandling — and he regrets never doing it.

The “How I Met Your Mother” star shared his memories of Shandling, who he said he loved and admired.

“He was as deep as he was funny. I wanted Garry Shandling to live forever and I somehow thought he would,” Radnor tweeted.

In tribute, Judd Apatow retweeted a scene from his cult classic series “Freaks and Geeks” where bullied nerd Bill Haverchuck laughs his troubles away while watching Shandling’s hilarious stand-up.

Other comedy giants shared their favorite memories with “The Larry Sanders Show” star, including Griffin, who had just seen him on Sunday.

Bob Odenkirk, who was also at the gathering, called Shandling a “guiding voice of comedy,” he said in a statement to The News.

“He set the standard and we’re all still trying to meet it. He gave us all opportunities to learn how to do the best work of our lives. But more importantly, as I knew him these last few years, he was a person who never stopped trying to be a better person,” Odenkirk said.
