The way Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani sparked their new relationship isn’t exactly romantic — but she doesn’t seem to mind.

In a highly personal new song titled “Came Here to Forget,” Shelton hints he began his new fling with Stefani when the two singers were knocking back drinks together as they each tried to move on from failed marriages.

“Girl getting over him, and I’m getting over her,” Shelton sings. “Misery loves company, that’s why it’s you and me. Buying each other drinks.”

The melodic tell-all, which Shelton released Tuesday, is his first single since his July breakup with his wife of four years, Miranda Lambert. He has since begun dating Stefani, who split from her longtime husband, Gavin Rossdale, in August.

But some of the heartfelt lyrics in his new track poses questions about whether Shelton is really over Lambert, and if he originally just looked at Stefani as a rebound.

“Go ahead and check your phone, like I’ve been checking mine,” he sings in the candid track. “Nobody’s ex is texting for a rewind. Looks like it’s just me and you, falling in love just enough to get us through.”

Stefani, however, was a major fan of her new boyfriend’s latest track, calling it “sooooooooooo good” in a tweet to fellow artist Kelly Clarkson.

Likewise, the No Doubt singer chronicled her heartbreak in November with a bluntly titled breakup ballad called “Used to Love You” all about her ruptured relationship with Rossdale, who reportedly cheated on her with their children’s nanny.

Late last year, E! News reported that Stefani and Shelton had cooked up a duet about leaving a broken relationship, though it still hasn’t been released.

It’s unknown if the collaboration will appear on Shelton’s upcoming 10th studio album, which does not yet have a name or release date.
